Clive Richards ran ( and still runs)
the Fragment label in Great Britain. A long time veteran of underground
music and production, Clive's interesting history can be read
here.
His music is experimental surely, but different in nature than most
"experimental " music, especially with his use of percussion. Inspired
by ethnic and ancient cultures but also incorporating modern electronic
elements, his projects are never less than fascinating. Depicted here
are not only tapes on Fragment but also other labels where Clive's music
was featured.
Above and below, A fine
compilation on the Teddy Bear label with Clive's group, Moisten
Before Use featured. Perhaps surprisingly, this also indicates
The Legendary Pink Dots participation in the cassette
underground at the time.
Above, left and right, the
cover for a compilation on the Epitapes label which was run
by Mike Tetrault, a fine poet in his own right who released
moody and eerie works.
Below, a beautiful CD
on Fragment, from 2003 of mixed experimental styles by his
project Erixma.
