Born Robin Wright in Highland park, Illinois in 1958, Robin O'Brien, began writing songs at an early age. As a teenager, she moved with her family to New Jersey, where she continued with her songwriting and began to force the joy of multitrack recording using two portable cassette players back and forth and back etc. She graduated from Berklee College of Music in 1982, then settled outside of Manhattan where several times she stood too close to the track of the fast moving train of the music industry–as a solo artist and a commercial (as in commercials) singer. She retreated, twice, to bear daughters. She studied with harmonic singer David Hykes in the mid eighties, and his influence is easy to hear. During that time she also began to improvise and write music a member of The Just Intonation Network: keyboardist, David Mitros.
